Jaguar Leverages Tesla's Supercharger Network in Shift to All-Electric Future
September 15 2023,
Jaguar has inked a pivotal deal with Tesla to provide its existing and future customers with access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. As part of Jaguar's transformation into an all-electric luxury brand, the agreement is instrumental in enhancing its global electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
Starting in 2025, all newly-launched Jaguars will feature built-in compatibility with the North American Charging Standard (NACS), eliminating the need for an adapter. For existing I-PACE models, Jaguar will facilitate the supply of NACS adapters once they become available from Tesla. This move ensures that Jaguar drivers can use the Supercharger network without any additional hardware, streamlining the charging experience.
The agreement is a key component of Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Reimagine strategy, which aims to reposition Jaguar as an all-electric luxury brand while maintaining a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2039.
Tesla's Supercharger network is renowned for its reliability and ease of use. Jaguar's in-house battery technology has been specifically designed to optimize charging rates on Tesla’s V3 and V4 Superchargers, offering Jaguar drivers the confidence that their EVs will efficiently utilize whichever Supercharger type they select.
Mark Camilleri, Director of Electrification Services at JLR, underscored the significance of the partnership, stating that although most charging generally occurs at home, Jaguar clients desire quick, dependable, and convenient options when on the move. This collaboration with Tesla, a global leader in EV charging infrastructure, is expected to deliver just that—solidifying Jaguar's electric future in North America.
