Jaguar New C-Type Continuation Celebrates First Jag Le Mans Win

Jaguar is celebrating the storied brand’s first Le Mans win that took place all the way back in 1951. The Jaguar C-Type Continuation will be an ultra exclusive tribute to the car that won the iconic race, although it won’t be based on the 1951 model.

The new Jaguar C-Type Continuation is actually based on the 1953 model, although that car and the 1951 are nearly identical. The C-Type was one of the most feared cars on the track back then, earning multiple wins including seven outright in 1951.

The special C-Type models will be carefully matched to the 1950s cars and will be completed in time for a special event in 2022 that will commemorate the event. Only 8 Jaguar C-Type Continuation models will be built, making the car one of the rarest in the world.

The C-Type was built for a short while, eventually replaced by the D-Type in 1954. During its 3 years on the market, 53 C-Type models were sold with 200 horsepower and drum brakes, which the special C-Types coming in 2022 will also have.
