Jaguar Type 00 Design Vision Shapes an Electric Future

The automotive world received its first glimpse of Jaguar's bold electric future with the unveiling of the Type 00 design concept, showcasing a dramatic departure from conventional electric vehicle design. This visionary concept car demonstrates Jaguar's commitment to its transformation into an all-electric luxury brand, while setting the stage for its first production EV GT coming in late 2025.

The Type 00 concept represents more than just a styling exercise - it previews Jaguar's new design philosophy of "Exuberant Modernism" and introduces the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). This innovative platform will underpin future production models, promising exceptional range capabilities of up to 770 kilometres and rapid charging that adds 321 kilometres in just 15 minutes.

A New Design Language for the Electric Age

The Type 00 concept challenges traditional electric vehicle proportions with its long bonnet, sweeping roofline, and fastback profile. Its dramatic silhouette is enhanced by 23-inch alloy wheels and a distinctive boat-tail rear section. The design team, led by Professor Gerry McGovern OBE, has created a unique aesthetic that pays homage to Jaguar's heritage while pushing boundaries with modernist surfaces and flush details.

The concept's exterior showcases two distinct personalities through its colour choices: a striking Satin Rhodon Rose, dubbed 'Miami Pink,' and an Inception Silver Blue that connects to Jaguar's British roots. These finishes demonstrate how the brand plans to use colour and materiality to create distinctive luxury vehicles that stand apart in an increasingly homogeneous electric vehicle market.

Technology and Luxury Redefined

The Type 00's interior reimagines luxury for the electric age with an emphasis on authentic materials and innovative technology. The cabin features a 3.2-metre brass spine that divides floating instrument panels, while travertine stone elements create a sophisticated foundation for the floating seats. This approach to interior design suggests future Jaguar models will offer a more artistic and sensory-focused experience compared to conventional luxury vehicles.

The concept introduces several innovative features that could influence future production models, including deployable cameras that replace traditional mirrors, a glassless rear tailgate, and a unique material-based customization system that adapts the vehicle's ambient environment. The production GT model, scheduled for late 2025, will utilize the same JEA platform to deliver impressive performance metrics, including a 692-kilometre range and rapid charging capabilities.
